Black-Eyed Peas - poem by my dad - for my son!

Black Eyed Peas

Black-eyed peas are good for me
One day I’ll eat them,
Just wait and see.

But for now, stay away please.
They make me gag and make me sneeze.
They smell up the house
Worse than a mouse.

Mommy laughed and Daddy croaked
When at the sight of that plate
I gasped and choked.

I ran to my room and shut the door.
But the smell followed me there.
I had to have fresh air
Before I fell on the floor.

I ran to the street and stood in the middle.
My head was spinning
And my stomach was a twittle.

I finally recovered from that dreadful event.
Just give me broccoli and carrots
Or my life will be spent.

Give them to Jackson,
Feed them to Ryan
Because when I see them
I am cryin’ and dyin’.

God told St. Peter to “rise and eat”,
But what was before him was only meat.
If black-eyed peas had been on the list
The books of Peter we would probably have missed.

Written for Austin by “PaPa”.

Austin must have had quite an ordeal for your Dad to write a whole poem about it!!!
